Gary Rodney Theobald was born on Feb. 21, 1951, to Archibald Theobald and Rose Theobald (Chukuske) in Fairmont, Minn. He died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at his home in Marana, Ariz. from natural causes.

Gary had an active life with no plans to slow down. He lived life to its fullest, honing his hobbies and creating new memories. He embraced silly moments with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was an avid cyclist and gym buff. He loved a good doughnut and coffee or a hearty buffet, and a cold beer (preferably Schell’s). Gary loved the outdoors, whether it was disc golfing, a car show, skiing, or on the courts playing racket ball, tennis or pickleball. He loved to soak in the sun and get his Vitamin D. He was a caregiver to both his parents before they passed, and everyone who knew Gary appreciated his quiet, gentle and steady presence. He was a great listener, and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Gary was content and at peace with his life. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Gary is survived by his wife Jeanne Theobald (Tesch), his two daughters Stacie Nardella (Jason Nardella), Stephanie Broughton Burkman (James Burkman). His four grandchildren, Blair Burkman, Sylvie Broughton, Ladd Broughton, Eliza Burkman and his sister Donna Wakey (Theobald).
