Karen S. Smith
FAIRMONT — Private family services for Karen S. Smith, age 80, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held at a later date. Karen passed away on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Karen Sue Smith was born on June 19, 1945, in Oakland, Calif. She was the daughter of Robert and Martha (Irvin) Smith. On Feb. 26, 1968, Karen was united in marriage to James R. Camerlo. This union was blessed with two children, Mary and James. Karen and James shared over seventeen years together before James passed away on June 2, 1985.
When Karen wasn’t busy caring for her family and home, she enjoyed playing BINGO as well as puzzle books and coloring books. She especially loved the time she was able to spend with her family.
Left to cherish her memory include her children, Mary Camerlo of Fairmont, Minn., and James (Melissa) Camerlo of Bakersfield, Calif.; grandchildren, Matthew Gourgues of California, Morgan Alldredge of California, Eric Camerlo of Missouri, and Austin Camerlo of California; and son-in-law, James Gessell. Along with her parents, Robert and Martha Smith, Karen was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Camerlo; and brother, Stanley Smith.
