Mark Hardt

BILLINGS, Mont. — “Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted” Matthew 5:4

Mark Douglas Hardt, 70, of Billings, Mont., husband of Beverly Fischer Hardt, died on Dec. 25, 2025.

He was born on Aug. 5, 1955, in Fairmont, Minn. He grew up there. Fairmont’s schools gave him his elementary and high school education.

Next, he obtained a B.S. degree from Mankato State University (1978), after which he moved on to the University of Connecticut. He received his M.A. (1981) and earned his Ph.D. (1989). Mark retired from academia in 2018. His intellectual pursuits into the past, present and future continued throughout his lifelong journey.

His parents, Vernon Kenneth and Helen Lucille Hardt predeceased him.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Beverly; siblings Kenneth (Karol) Hardt, Suzanne (Rick) Stanits, Randall Hardt, Bradley (Marilyn) Hardt, James Hardt, Lori (David) Hyink and Melanie Hardt; many relatives and their descendants, friends and neighbors. He also leaves Kaboodle, his beloved cat.
