Sharon Valentine

MAPLE GROVE, FORMERLY FAIRMONT– Sharon Lee (Eden) Valentine passed away peacefully on Dec. 25, 2025, at her home in Maple Grove, Minn.

Born on April 7, 1935 in Wesley, Iowa to Bennie and Ella (Welhousen) Eden, she lived a life filled with love and family.

After graduating from Titonka High School and Mankato Commercial College, she began her life as an active partner in farming with husband Dewey in southern Minnesota. Sharon and Dewey were married April 4, 1956, enjoying 56 years together before Dewey’s passing in 2012.

Sharon lived in Truman most of her adult life where she attended the Church of Christ. She was a skilled cook and edited several organizations’ cookbooks. She was also an active volunteer with numerous community organizations including the school and Mrs. Jaycee’s, and supported the Truman community in countless other ways. After moving to Fairmont in 1996, she attended the Fairmont United Methodist Church and also served as Treasurer for The Meadows Co-op for many years.

Sharon’ greatest passion was her family and spending time together. The cabin at Lake Koronis was a favorite gathering spot in the summer for family and friends, with lots of good food and summer fun. Family reunion cruises were another tradition, sharing her love of travel with her children and grandchildren. Sharon and Dewey also wintered in Florida and loved having the family join them for warm weather vacations. In later life, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a constant joy.

She is survived by her children: Debra Valentine Cichanski (Mike), DeAnn Valentine Campbell (Ken) three grandchildren: Katie Smye (Andy), Ben Cichanski, and Erin Cichanski (Jacob) and six great-grandchildren: Kailee, Brooklyn and Jackson Gunderson, and Louisa, Florence and Henry Smye. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Valentine, son Douglas Valentine and grandson Samuel Gunderson. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a brief program at 11:30 a.m., at Lakeview Funeral Home, 205 Albion Ave, Fairmont.
