He attended school in Fairmont and graduated from Fairmont High School with the class of 1948. Following his graduation, Tom enlisted with the Minnesota Army National Guard and was later called to active duty where he served his county proudly. In January 1952, Tom received his honorable discharge
Tom began his career, working as a barber in Fairmont, where he enjoyed visiting with clients. He later made the move to Harsco where he worked for over 20 years until his retirement.
On Aug. 10, 1963, Tom was united in marriage to Beverly Stromberg. The couple made Fairmont their home and raised three children, Jeff, Nancy, and Todd.
Tom loved the outdoors and found peace sitting on his dock with a line in the water waiting on the fish to bite. His competitive nature shined through while on the golf course, with friendly banter going back and forth between friends. Tom was fun loving and always up for an adventure and looked forward to winter trips to Mississippi and Alabama. He never knew a stranger and created many lasting friendships with those who were willing to sit and visit.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Beverly Sime; children, Jeff (Janell) Sime, Nancy Struck, and Todd (Jennifer) Sime; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, June Bents; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, J.A and Helen Sime; infant son, Mark Sime; grandson, Brendan Numedahl; brother, John Sime; and brother-in-law, Marlen Bents.
