Cory Allen Iverson

LUVERNE — Funeral services for Cory Allen Iverson, 41, of Luverne, Minn., formerly of Fairmont and Sherburn, Minn., will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2025, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont with full military honors following the service by the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post #36 and the Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1222. Burial will be held in Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont, Minn. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and will continue Monday, one hour prior to the time of service. Cory passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, Minn. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Cory Allen Iverson was born April 23, 1984, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of David W. Iverson and Robin (Cox) Cometa. He grew up in Fairmont and attended Fairmont Public School, graduating from Fairmont High School with the class of 2002.

Shortly after his graduation, Cory enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served his country proudly. He received his basic training at the Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, and was stationed in San Diego and later Italy before returning stateside. Cory served in the Navy as a Naval Master-at-Arms. In May 2007, Cory received his honorable discharge and returned home to Minnesota.

Cory loved life and lived it to the fullest, he loved spending time outdoors with a line in the water at the lake, hoping to catch the biggest fish or sitting quietly in the deer stand watching for the elusive big buck. Cory looked forward to card night with friends and family and was incredibly proud of his military service.

Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Robin (Chris) Cometa of Villa Rica, Ga.; aunts and uncles, Jennifer (Rick) Behne of Sherburn, Minn., Malissa (Mark) Anderson of Cylinder, Iowa, Amy (Jeremy) Anderson of Brandon, S.D., Larry (Kelly) Iverson of Fairmont, Minn., and Peggy Johnson of Princeton, Minn.; as well as many cousins, extended family and friends.

Cory was preceded in death by his father, David Iverson; grandparents, Gerald and Karen Cox, Lyle Iverson, and Alice and Gordon Johnson.
