Barbara Rae Brookins was born on Sept. 20, 1939 to Charles and Katherine (Kline) Brookins in Sioux City, Iowa and was one of the twins. She received her education at Woodrow Elementary and Central High School. She worked as a nurse and was married at a young age in Sioux City and had a son. They lived in Omaha, Nebr. for a short time until moving with her family to Fairmont, Minn. in 1957. On Dec. 6, 1958 she was united in marriage to Dale Lohse in Sioux City, Iowa. They made their home in Fairmont and raised their family. She was a lifetime guardian of Chris Brookins and adopted daughter of Jennifer. Barb was employed in healthcare for most of her life becoming a RN in Fairmont and working at the Fairmont Community Hospital. They traveled a lot and took several trips overseas when they retired and became snowbirds. Her husband, Dale died in 2014. Barb’s twin sister (Beverly) moved in with her in 2020.

She is survived by her children, son, Roger (Joan) Lohse of Welcome, Minnesota; daughter, Jennifer Lohse of Fairmont, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Charles Lohse and Katie (Mike) Hickel; siblings, Beverly Brookins and Rosalie Brookins; sisters-in-law on the Lohse side; nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dale Lohse; siblings, Roger Brookins, Robert Brookins and Roy Brookins; brothers and sisters-in-law on the Lohse side; and other relatives.
