Thomas Richard Seifert was born on July 9, 1956, to Richard and Shirley (Hoffman) Seifert in Fairmont, Minn. He attended school at St. John Vianney Catholic School and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1974.

On July 28, 1995, Tom was united in marriage to Kris Sweeney. They made their home in Fairmont. Tom worked as the head custodian at Fairmont Public Schools and retired from there on June 30, 2023.

Tom found joy in life’s simple adventures- traveling to Montana each summer, where he cherished the open skies and peaceful landscapes that felt like a second home. On weekends, he loved taking day trips to explore new breweries and wineries with friends and family, always eager to share laughter and good conversation. Above all, his greatest happiness came from time spent with his beloved wife and their two golden retrievers, whose companionship brought warmth and love to every day.

Tom loved Fairmont Cardinal sports, spending over 45 years devoting his time and effort to coaching countless youth of all ages in various sports, including baseball, softball, football, and basketball. He was honored for his dedication to coaching Cardinal athletes by being selected to the Fairmont Area High School Cardinal Athletic Hall of Fame in 2022. He spent many years as part of the football “chain gang crew” on Friday nights, served on various athletic booster clubs, and attended many athletic events as part of the event staff. Tom was also a member of the Lion’s Club.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Kris Seifert; children and their families, Kyle Seifert and his wife, Karen Baer and their children, Alli Seifert (26), Marc Geffrard (19), Benjamin Seifert (18), Caitlin Seifert (16) and Luc Geffrard (15), Michael Bliesmer and his wife, Jaime and their daughter, Hannah Bliesmer (24), Brooke Ross (Seifert) and her children, Hope McCoy (27), Olivia Lewis (22) and Kendra Ross (18) and four great-grandchildren, and Chelsea Sweeney-Schaefer and her husband, Kalen Schaefer; brother, Steve Seifert; sisters, Becky Miller and Deb Hiatt and her husband, Steve; numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Richard and Shirley Seifert.
