“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6)

Curtis Victor Carrigan was born on Feb. 9, 1945, to Victor and Lucille (Free) Carrigan at Fairmont, Minn. Curt attended St. Paul’s Lutheran, and graduated from Fairmont High School. Curt married Valerie Brockmann on May 5, 1979. They began their life together, residing in a cabin on Amber Lake, which they remodeled after five years into the home they shared until his passing.

Curt’s passions included a love of the outdoors, including hunting and his true love: fishing. He knew every inch of Amber Lake, including the places where fishing was the best. He loved the adventure and didn’t care what kind of fish he caught.

Curt’s greatest love was for Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior and was echoed in the lyrics of his favorite song, “No One Ever Cared for Me Like Jesus”.

NO ONE EVER CARED FOR ME LIKE JESUS

“I would love to tell you what I think of Jesus,

Since I found in Him a friend so strong and true.

I would tell you how He changed my life completely;

He did something no other friend could do.

No one ever cared for me like Jesus;

There’s no other friend so kind as He.

No one else could take the sin and darkness from me;

O how much He cared for me.”

Those who knew “CV”, as he was lovingly called by family, saw evidence in his life of his love for his Lord, which was demonstrated in many ways through his involvement in his local church, the Fairmont Bible Church, corner of 5th and Orient Street, founded and established by his father-in-law, Rev. Adolph Brockmann and wife, Grace. Curt’s involvement at the church

included years of service as a church board member, Sunday School superintendent, and worship leader.

When Rev. and Mrs. Brockmann retired from the church, they, along with Curt and Val, held a weekly Sunday service (three Sundays a month) at a different senior residence in the area each Sunday with seniors who were unable to attend church. These Sunday chapel services included music by Curt and Val, who sang together, and a brief message of encouragement by Pastor or Mrs. Brockmann.

Curt is survived by his wife, Valerie Carrigan, his wife of 46 years, of Fairmont, Minn.; siblings, Kathy Hantelman of St. Peter, Minn., Cherice (Tom) Kueseke of Lake Elmo, Minn., Corliss (Mel) Bremer of Tower, Minn., Kevin Carrigan of St. Paul, Minn., sister-in-law, Sheryl Palmquist (and David) of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Carrigan of Northrop, Minn. and Georgia Carrigan of Little Falls, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

Curt was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Lucille Carrigan; brothers, Craig Carrigan and Kent Carrigan; infant sister, Kim Marie Carrigan; and brother-in-law, Charles Hantelman.

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” (Matthew 25:21)
