FAIRMONT — Funeral Services for Joanne A. Eastlund, 70, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, at Lakeview Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Lakeview Cemetery in Windom, Minn. Joanne passed away on Saturday evening, Aug. 23, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom. In lieu of plants, flowers are preferred by the family. Memorials should be directed to the family who will make a donation to Hope Lodge in Minneapolis. Lakeview Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Joanne Alice (St. John) Eastlund was born on Dec. 4, 1954, to Melburn and Darlene (Smith) St. John in Windom, Minn. She graduated from Windom High School with the Class of 1973. Joanne attended Worthington Community College for a year, followed by Rochester Community College and later graduated from Mankato State University with a bachelor’s degree in business.
On April 23, 1977, Joanne was united in marriage to Bruce Eastlund at Northwestern College in Roseville, Minn. Joanne and Bruce made their home in Fairmont. Joanne worked at several different places after graduating from high school. She worked at Continental Grain as an administrator assistant and then in the medical field doing medical transcriptions in Alexandria and Mankato and later in life at her home. Joanne also worked for Dr. Joe Switras and Bryan Sweet and ran a daycare in her home.
Family was the most important thing to Joanne, and she loved spending time with them, especially her nieces and nephews.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of forty-eight years, Myron Bruce Eastlund of Fairmont; mother, Darlene St. John of Windom; four sisters, Linda (Brad) Bussa of Windom, Gini Sorbo of Windom, Cyndi (Dr. Joseph, OD) Miller of Perham and Karen (Mark) Comer of Pleasant Prairie, Wis.; brother-in-law, Michael Alan Eastlund of Mesa, Ariz.; her special dog, Annie; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Melburn St. John and sister-in-law, Pamela Eastlund.
