Bryon Hoppe

WINDOM — A Celebration of Life service to honor the life and legacy of Bryon Hoppe, age 57, of Windom, will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Windom on Friday, Aug. 15, at 11 a.m., with a time of visitation and gathering from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church in Windom. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Windom.

Bryon Jay Hoppe was born July 24, 1968, in Windom, Minn., to Donald “Don” and Jean (Haberman) Hoppe. A lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, he was baptized in infancy and confirmed in his youth. Bryon attended Windom Area Schools, was an active member of the Windom Workers 4-H Club, and enjoyed playing in the band. In ninth grade, he wanted to learn to play piano, and he put his mind to it with great success. Bryon was a terrific big brother. Always kind and patient, Bryon taught Brent to care for pets, ride a bike and drive a car.

On Jan. 2, 1986, Bryon married Rita Krumwiede. They were blessed with two sons, Chris and Blaine. As a father, Bryon went back to school to earn his LPN degree from Minnesota West in Pipestone. Guided by his caring and compassionate nature, Bryon dedicated 35 years to nursing home care, working at the Good Samaritan Society in Windom, Valley View Manor in Lamberton, and earlier at the Cottonwood County DAC, retiring in 2020.

Bryon cherished time with his wife, sons and daughter-in-law and dearly loved his five grandchildren. His mother Jean was fortunate to have daily visits with Bryon, and he will be sorely missed.

On Monday, Aug. 11, 2025, Bryon passed away peacefully at his home in Windom.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Hoppe of Windom; sons, Christopher (Lacie) Hoppe of Windom and Blaine (Jerry) Hoppe of Winona; five grandchildren, Marcus, Seth, Corbin, John, and Lindsay; mother, Jean Hoppe of Windom; brother, Brent (Emily) Hoppe and their children, Vivian and Evelyn; along with many other relatives and friends.

Bryon was preceded in death by his father, Don Hoppe; grandparents, Erwin and Minna Hoppe, and Luverne and Margaret Haberman; his uncle, Carl Hoppe; and in-laws, Richard and Margaret Krumwiede.

Bryon will be remembered for his gentle spirit, unwavering kindness, and the genuine care he showed to everyone whose life he touched.

Arrangements are under the care of the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center. Condolences and memories of Bryon may be shared online at LaCanneFuneralHome.com.
