BLOOMINGTON — Funeral Services for Michael J. Youngblood, age 62, of Bloomington, Minn., will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Bloomington, Minn., with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Those wishing to view a livestream of the service may do so at https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/a25088789979089 Interment will be 5 p.m. on Saturday at Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont with military honors provided by the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222. Michael passed away on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025, at his home in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Michael J. Youngblood was born on Dec. 10, 1962, in Bay City, Mich. He was the son of James and Joan (Polkinghorne) Youngblood. Mike lived in many different cities throughout his childhood but his homebase during the summertime was in Lost Woods, Mich. He graduated from High School in Rockaway, N.J. Mike later completed his associate’s degree prior to enlisting in the Navy.
Mike met the love of his life, Cheryl, in the late 1990’s at their mutual workplace, MCI/WorldCom/Verizon, where they became trusted friends and colleagues. Their undeniable connection quickly grew into an unstoppable force. Their partnership grew as they built their family and careers side by side. They met every challenge or celebration with faith, determination, and love. Mike and Cheryl resided in their beautiful Tuscan home in Bloomington, Minn. They treasured weekend getaways at their cozy lake house in Fairmont, Minn., where they enjoyed many beautiful sunsets together.
Throughout Mike’s career in Technology Sales and Consulting, his work colleagues and clients described him as an incredible teacher, mentor, and friend. He was recognized in the technology industry with many awards and accolades from his business partners. During his free time, Mike was an avid outdoorsman, an incredible home chef, a patriot, and loved to travel with Cherie. As much as he cherished his human companionships, Mike also cherished his canine companions.
Mike will be remembered as being jovial, kind, loving, and courageous. He was hardworking, had a contagious laugh, was strong, loyal, intelligent, civic-minded, and was a jokester, and jack-of-all-trades. Mike was the life of the party. Every journey with Mike was an adventure. His infectious aura brought people together. Mike was a devoted father and grandfather, loving husband, and a faithful friend.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Cheryl Youngblood; children, Brandon (Lori) Youngblood of Woodbridge, Wash., Paige (Ben) Antonson of Burnsville, Minn., Erica Meyer of Maple Grove, Minn., TJ Meyer of Plymouth, Minn., and Jenna (Don) Larson of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Jaiden, Jackson, Donnelly, Lydia, Lachlan, Oliver, Alaina, Lorelei, and Madelyn; siblings, Diane (Kevin) Donlon of Englewood, Fla., Mark (Julie) Youngblood of Livonia, Mich., and Lynn Youngblood of Lincoln, Mich.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
