MESA, Ariz. — L. Duane Shoemaker passed into his Heavenly Home, to be with his Lord and Savior July 26, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, in Mesa, Ariz. Born in Granada, March 13, 1938. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Bethel Evangelical Free Church, Fairmont, Minn., with visitation one hour previous to the service. Duane married the Love of his Life, Kathie Oberg, Jan. 31, 1981, in Fairmont Bethel Church. Duane was very active in Bethel Church and choir. Duane and Kathie have been members of The Gideons International Worldwide, since 1992-sharing Jesus together. With Kathie at his side, they shared the Gospel in the Martin County Jail and Bible Ministry in Arizona County Jails. He retired from Tamper-Harsco after 34 years, plus part-time realtor, and completed the Shoemaker Jewelry Store, as they retired to their Mesa, Ariz. home in 2009. Duane is survived by his wife, Kathie, many grandchildren, a daughter, nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law Arlene Shoemaker. He was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Shoemaker, granddaughter Suzanne Shoemaker, parents, John (Buck) Shoemaker and mother, Bessie McNea Shoemaker, brother Kermit Shoemaker, sister C.Marcheta Carlson, husband Delmer, Margaret and husband Rollin Lane.
