CHANHASSEN — A memorial service for Donna Doreen Stenzel, 93, of Chanhassen, Minn., formerly of Fairmont, Minn., will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont with a reception and lunch immediately following the service. Burial will be held in Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Donna passed away Monday, June 16, 2025, at Summerwood of Chanhassen in Chanhassen, Minn. Lakeview Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Donna Doreen (Nelson) Stenzel was born Feb. 25, 1932, in Fairmont to Ernest and Fern (Unke) Nelson. She attended High School in Fairmont, graduating in 1950. After high school, she married Wilfred (Bill) Stenzel of Elmore, Minn., in 1954, and lived in Elmore briefly before moving to Mankato while Bill attended Mankato State.
She worked as a bookkeeper/teller at First National Bank. They welcomed a daughter, Debra, in 1955. They also lived in Spencer, Iowa, and Iowa Falls, Iowa. In 1970, they moved to Paynesville, Minn., where they owned and operated a Sears Catalog Store. In 1981, they moved to Cochocton, Ohio, to run a larger catalog store. When Bill became ill, they moved back to Minnesota, settling in Glencoe. Following Bill’s death in 1990, Donna moved to Chaska to be closer to Debbie, Mike and Justin. Donna loved gardening (and even yardwork) and was a volunteer at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Donna moved to a condo in Victoria, Minn., before moving to Summerwood of Chanhassen.
Donna is survived by her daughter Debbie (Mike) Given, grandson Justin Given, brother Leland Nelson, many nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; sisters Earla Schaefer and Marie Jaqua.
