Colleen Fay Harris

FAIRMONT — Colleen Fay Harris (Lynn), age 88, died in Washington State on June 20, 2025.

She was born and raised in Fairmont, Minn., to Ward and Mary Linn. She graduated from Fairmont High School in 1955. Colleen married Neil Harris from Guckeen, Minn., when he was in the Air Force. They spent 26 years being stationed around the U.S. and the Philippines. She was a nurse for 30 years, retiring as an LPN. Mom was so proud to be a nurse, she loved taking care of people when they needed help. She had the honor of caring for Col. Davenport, who was a pilot for the Doolittle Raiders during WW2. They remained friends for many years.

In the early 70’s, it was discovered that mom had a rare blood type, so no matter where she lived, the Red Cross knew how to find her. She was grateful she could help anyone needing her blood type. She was also able to take a great adventure to Saudi Arabia in 1996 to visit her daughter and son-in-law, who were living and working there. Mom flew many miles to be spit on by a camel. She got to experience a culture so different from ours.

Colleen is survived by her daughter Wendy, son-in-law Woody, and mom’s partner Mike. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Neil, a brother, and a sister. Mom will be buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
