Joyce Remona Farrow

LEDYARD, Iowa — Joyce Remona Farrow, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, at the age of 90. Born at home on Oct. 8, 1934, in rural Faribault County to Robert and Alice (Siep) Elmore, Joyce was the cherished daughter of a large family, being one of ten children. Her love for family and home defined her life and left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Joyce’s journey intertwined with her husband, Leon, whom she met at the bowling alley–an early glimpse into the lively spirit that would define her life. They married on June 5, 1959. Together, they settled on a farm outside of Ledyard, where they poured their hearts into raising their five children. Joyce was nothing short of the epitome of a homemaker, dedicating herself to nurturing her family and her community. She was well-known for her impressive garden, canning, and freezing the bounty she grew. Her kitchen was always filled with the warmth of freshly baked goods, and no one ever left hungry. Her cinnamon rolls became a beloved staple in the community. Even the local snowplows made it a priority to clear the roads in winter, ensuring she could make it to town to get them made and run the restaurant that she had for several years. Joyce’s vibrant personality extended beyond her home; she found joy in golfing nearly every day and was an active participant in the women’s bowling league every Thursday. Her enthusiasm for these activities fostered bonds and created memories that will be cherished forever. She was also one of the original “Rummage Sale Ladies,” organizing yearly sales with fellow community members that brought together friends and neighbors. Joyce will be deeply missed by her daughters Brenda Larson of Fairmont, Tracy (Kevin) Peterson of Armstrong and Alison Farrow of Ledyard; sons Scott Farrow of Ledyard and Jason (Mandy) Farrow of Blue Earth; grandchildren, Jesse Larson, Justin Larson, Megan (Kolton Thiesse) Larson, Nicole Larson, Emily (John) Erpelding, Orry (Heidi) Peterson, Josh (Stacey) Jensen, Calvin Farrow and Lilah Farrow; Great-grandchildren, Kaylie and Owen Jensen; Taylor, Lydia, Brynlie and Addylie Erpelding, Grayson and Easton Thiesse, her siblings Beverly Alfson, Janice DeBoer and Laverne Elmore as well as other extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Leon, three sisters and three brothers.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. on June 26, at Bethany Evangelical and Reformed Church. Visitation will be an hour before the service at the church. Online condolences can be left and a livestream of the service can be viewed at www.pattonfh.com
