Avis M. Wagner

FAIRMONT — Funeral services for Avis Marie Wagner, 83, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Burial will be following the service in Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Avis passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 28, 2025, at Ingleside Memory Care in Fairmont, Minn.. Lakeview Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Avis Marie Magnusson, daughter of Paul and Agnes (Rhodegaard) Magnusson, was born Sept. 29, 1941, in Warren, Minn.. She was baptized and confirmed at Alma Lutheran Free Church, rural Argyle, Minn.. She graduated from Argyle High School in 1959 and attended Moorhead State College from 1959 to 1963. From 1964 to 1966, Avis was the Office Manager for the North Dakota District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in Fargo, N.D. On Nov. 26, 1966, Avis was married to Harold FA Wagner of Fairmont at Alma Lutheran Free Church, rural Argyle, Minn.. They lived in rural Granada, Minn., until 1975, when they moved to rural Fairmont (Silver Lake Township).

Avis was employed at Aerospace in Fairmont from 1967 to 1998 as a buyer and later as Purchasing Manager. From 1998 to Dec. 2006, she was employed as the Administrative Assistant in the Foundation Office at Lakeview Health Services.

Avis was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School for several years, and was a member of the LLL, LWML, and Anna Circle.

The youngest of seven children, Avis grew up in a family where music was a part of everyday life. Besides learning to play the piano and organ, she also played the flute.

Left to cherish her memory is a cousin, Mavis Brown; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Chip) Sutton, Carolyn Wagner and Janice Wagner; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Along with her parents, Paul and Agnes Magnusson, Avis was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold; brother, Marville (Ruth) Magnusson; sisters, Clarice (Stanley) Visness, Verna (Earle) Hanson, Arlene (Vernon) Gehrls, and Jean (Kermit) Potucek; infant sister, Donna Mae Magnusson; brothers-in-law, Robert Wagner, Richard Wagner, Roland (Marlys) Wagner, and Daniel Wagner; sisters-in-law, Ruth Wagner in infancy and Adeline (Rev. Gary) Galchutt.

The family requests memorials be made in Avis’ name to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Fairmont, Minn..
