Arlen H. Bock

TRUMAN — Funeral Services for Arlen H. Bock, 84, of Truman, Minn. will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Galena Township, rural Ormsby, Minn.. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 2, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Truman, Minn.. Arlen passed away Wednesday morning, May 28, 2025, at the Lakeview Methodist Healthcare Center in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Arlen Harold Bock was born on May 26, 1941, to Harold and Marguerite (Olsen) Bock in Fairmont, Minn.. He was baptized on July 6, 1941, and later confirmed on April 24, 1955, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman, Minn.. Arlen attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Truman and graduated from Truman High School in 1959. After graduating, Arlen attended Mankato State University.
On Feb. 26, 1961, Arlen was united in marriage to Bonnie Goedtel at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont. This marriage was blessed with four children, Randy, Shelley, Brad and Mandy. They made their home in Fairmont until 1963, when they moved to the farm near Truman. Arlen and Bonnie farmed in the Truman area until retiring in 2006 and after retiring they remained on the farm. Arlen was a lifelong farmer, and he loved to be out working on the farm and driving tractor. His “B” John Deere tractor was very special to him, and he enjoyed driving it in the Truman Days parade every year.
Arlen was a member at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman and later became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Ormsby, Minn.. He held various positions at both churches. He was also on the Waverly Township Board. In his younger years, Arlen coached boys basketball at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Truman from 1963-1976. Arlen loved sports, fishing and having coffee and playing cards with his friends. Arlen and Bonnie enjoyed road trips and wintering for many years in Texas along with their annual fishing trip to Blackduck. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 64 years, Bonnie Bock of Truman; four children, Randy (Jen) Bock of Fairmont, Shelley (Mike) Sake of Woodbury, Brad (Lisa) Bock of Waconia and Mandy (Jesse) Lambrecht of Rochester; eight grandchildren, Alyssa Sake, Abby (Jesse) Stertz, Allison (Josh) Thaemlitz, Cole Seeman (Kendall Hedberg), Lauren Bock, Alex Bock, Treyson Lambrecht and Cecilia Lambrecht; two step-grandchildren, Derek (Kelsy) Slaughter and Dustin Slaughter; four great-grandchildren, Savannah Stertz, Henry Stertz, Jennings Thaemlitz and Bowen Thaemlitz; one step-great-granddaughter, Blakely Slaughter; three siblings, Cheryl (Roger) Cherland of Lone Rock, Iowa, Tom (Julie) Bock of Bemidji and Ardis (Gary) Gens of Vernon Center; two sisters-in-law, Jenny Goedtel of Troy, Mich. and Barb Bremer of Fairmont; two brothers -in-law, Dennis (Jana) Goedtel of Mankato and Dave (Judi) Goedtel of Eden Prairie; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Marguerite Bock; parents-in-law, Otto and Lucille Goedtel; precious granddaughter, Maddy Sake; infant siblings, Janet Bock and Neal Bock; and brothers-in-law, Gary Goedtel and Charles Bremer.
