Douglas H. Sanders

AMBOY — Douglas Harold Sanders, 68, of Amboy, Minn., passed away unexpectedly on May 18, 2025, at his home.

Doug was born on Feb.15, 1957, in Madelia to Luverne and Donna (Claridge) Sanders. He grew up in Amboy, Minn., and graduated from Amboy Good Thunder High School in 1975.

Doug married LeRae on April 9, 2011, and together they enjoyed every minute together.

Doug farmed for most of his life, which was one of his biggest passions. He wasn’t biased about green or red implements, as long as they were clean.

He enjoyed fishing and snowmobile trips with his friends. He loved caring for the land that he farmed and keeping his farm in pristine condition. He was a compassionate friend to everyone and enjoyed time visiting and sliding in a joke or two. He was a devoted father, husband, brother, uncle, and grandfather.

Doug is survived by his wife, LeRae, children, Manuel (Jamie), Jody Tenold (Darren), Jessica, Lyndsy Urban, Kendra Reineking (Andy), & Kacee Heley (Spencer). Grandchildren, Jillian, Josiah, Amelia, Simon, and Jayce. Brother, Dave (Maria), Deb Thomas (Mark), sister-in-law, Lisa Hopkins, many nieces and nephews, as well as his special friend and neighbor, Richard Schulz. Doug is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother, Denny, and brother-in-law, Jimmy.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 23, and one hour before the service. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on May 24. Both will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Amboy, Minn. Online condolences can be left, and a livestream of the service can be viewed at www.spencerowen.com.
