David W. Zemke

WAVERLY, Iowa — Dr. David Wayne Zemke, D.D.S, 93, of Waverly, Iowa, and formerly of Plymouth, Minn., passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly.
David was born on Oct. 20, 1931, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of Erhart E. and Lois (Trott) Zemke. He received a Master of Science Degree from the University of Missouri and a D.D.S. from the University of Minnesota Dental School.
Dr. David had orthodontics practices in Minneapolis and Fairmont, Minn. He retired after 50 years at the end of 2010.
David was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman and skier. He was a pilot whose summer fishing camp in Ontario, Canada, was accessible only by his seaplane. He was an accomplished skier, skiing at resorts in Colorado or heli-skiing glaciers out of Revelstoke, British Columbia.
Dr. Zemke is survived by his brother, Warren (Barbara) Zemke of Waverly and a sister-in-law, Joan Zemke of Fla.; his nephews, Steven Zemke and Daniel Zemke, both of Fla., Wayne Zemke of Houston; and Mark (Suzanne) Zemke of Calif.; his niece, Caroline (Martin) Both of Ill.; and his great nieces and nephews, Camille Zemke of Texas, Katarina Both of Ill., Margot Zemke of Calif., Karl Both of Ill., and Miles Zemke of Calif; and a special friend of Lilah Malosky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Robert Zemke and a nephew Jonathan Zemke.
Burial will be held in Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont, Minn.
