Dennis R. Crissinger

SHERBURN — A private family service for Dennis R. Crissinger, 77, of Sherburn, Minn., will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn, Minn. Dennis passed away Friday, May 2, 2025, at Avera Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D. Kramer Family Funeral Home of Welcome, Sherburn, and Trimont, Minn., is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dennis Ray Crissinger was born Sept. 22, 1947. He and his twin sister, Mary, were the youngest of eight children to parents, Arza and Florence (Dorendorf) Crissinger. He attended Sherburn Elementary and Sherburn High School, graduating with the class of 1965.

Denny met Susan Baumgart through a mutual friend in the summer of 1967. On March 1, 1969, the couple was married and moved to a farm north of Sherburn and later to a farm south of Sherburn.

Between 1969 and 1977, Denny and Sue welcomed home three children, Amy in 1969, Jeff in 1972, and Emily in 1977. In the summer of 1977, the family moved onto the Crissinger family homeplace, where Denny and Sue have made their home for the past 48 years.

Denny was a content man who felt so lucky with the way his life played out. He cared for and loved his children and grandchildren deeply and enjoyed spending time with them whenever he could. Denny was a proud and hardworking farmer and cattleman all of his adult life. He also had a special place in his heart for his dogs, especially Brutus.

Denny was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn and also a member of the Sherburn Lions Club. Denny also donated the gift of life as often as he could, by being a dedicated blood donor. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, eating out, and visiting with his longtime friends.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Susan Crissinger of Sherburn, Minn.; children, Amy Crissinger (Mark Sullivan) of Madison, S.D., Jeffrey (Leslie) Crissinger of Fairmont, Minn., and Emily Crissinger (Brett Dannenbring) of Sioux Falls, S.D.; grandchildren, Taylor Crissinger, Jacob Crissinger, and Joseph Crissinger; siblings, Janet Overgaard, and Mary (Dennis) Scheff; sisters-in-law, Meg Crissinger, Julie (Earl) Ricard, Connie Williams, and Mary Baumgart; brothers-in-law, Bruce Manzey and Jerry (Susan) Baumgart; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Arza and Florence Crissinger; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arnold and Irene Baumgart; siblings, Bob (Betty) Crissinger, Ralph (Norma) Crissinger, John Crissinger, Kenny (Dottie) Crissinger, and Shirley Manzey; in-laws, Paul Overgaard, Ron Baumgart, Brad Williams; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
