Hermie Geerdes

JACKSON — We are saddened to announce the passing of Hermie Geerdes, 83, of Jackson, Minn. and formally of Trimont, Minn.

A Funeral Service for Hermie will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 61 Main Street East, Trimont, Minn.

Hermie was called to his eternal rest on Wednesday evening, April 9, 2025 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S. D. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15 and and from noon until time of the services on Wednesday, April 16 all at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Trimont, Minn. Kramer Family Funeral Home of Welcome, Sherburn, and Trimont, Minn., is assisting the family with arrangements.

Hermie Geerdes was born on Sept. 10, 1941 to Herman and Dena (Timmer) Geerdes in Lyon County, rural Little Rock, Iowa. He received his education in Iowa Schools. Hermie was employed in Sibley, Iowa at AMPI. On Aug. 26, 1960, he was united in marriage to Joann Wesselink in Sibley, Iowa. After their marriage, they lived and worked in Sibley until moving to Trimont, Minn., in 1970. Hermie was employed as a farmhand for various farmers in the area. He later was employed at Sperry in Jackson and then Swift-Eckrich in St. James. Joann passed away on Sept. 13, 1987. Hermie continued living in Trimont. On June 29, 1991, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Kay Hanson at Trimont, Minn. After their marriage they lived in Jackson, Minn. where Hermie was employed at AgChem for several years. He loved attending his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s sporting events and birthday parties. Hermie loved playing golf. He could carry on a conversation with everyone. He was always pulling pranks on people and had a contagious smile and laugh. They enjoyed their weekly trips to Starbucks. Hermie will be greatly missed by all.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Carolyn Kay Geerdes of Jackson, Minn.; his children, Kim and Tom Sampson of Trimont, Minn., Greg Geerdes of Trimont, Minn., Patty Geerdes of Trimont, Minn., Mike and Vicki Geerdes of Fairmont, Minn., Karla Geerdes of Trimont, Minn., Mary and Ron Shade of Trimont, Minn., Peggy and Andre Hayes of Largo, Florida, Shelli and Josh Paulson of Trimont, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Jodie Geerdes of Fairmont, Minn.; Carolyn’s children, Kevin and Carolyn Trosine of Nashville, Tennessee, Michelle Sheepstra of Elko New Market, Minn., Jason and Amy Trosine of Spokane, Wash.; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchilden; step grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Honken of Hartley, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Shirley Hindt of Sheldon, Iowa and Janie and Bubs Johnson of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Jeanette Hanson of Iowa; brothers-in-law, Chris Blass and Clyde Hall both of Estherville, Iowa; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Hermie was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Dena Geerdes; wife, Joann Geerdes; son, Steven Geerdes; brothers, Dwane Geerdes and Raymond Geerdes; great-granddaughter, Ny ‘Lani Hayes and other relatives.
