Donna M. Madsen
FAIRMONT — Funeral Service for Donna M. Madsen, 94, of Fairmont, Minn., will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont with interment in East Chain Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at Lakeview Funeral Home. Donna passed away on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 29, 2024, at Goldfinch Memory Care in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Donna Madge (Moore) Madsen was born on June 8, 1930, in rural Swea City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Virgil and Madge (Stokes) Moore. Donna graduated in Iowa from Seneca High School in 1948. Following her graduation, she attended AIB Business School in Des Moines.
Donna began working in the Personnel Office at the Fairmont Canning Company and then worked at First National Bank in San Diego, Calif., and returned to Fairmont where she worked at Railway Motors. She later worked as a teacher’s aide at the East Chain School.
On March 23, 1957, Donna was united in marriage to Arnold Madsen at the Methodist Church in Fairmont, Minn. The couple resided on a farm near East Chain. This union was blessed with three children, Duane, Ron, and Ken. Donna and Arnold shared over sixty-seven years together.
Donna was active in the East Chain Lutheran Church including many years teaching Sunday School. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and active with the Martin County Historical Society. She was especially interested in her family genealogy as well as helping friends with their genealogy. Donna had taken some art classes and used her skills for painting.
After Donna and Arnold retired from farming they moved to Fairmont, Minn. They enjoyed many winters at their winter home in Coolidge, Ariz.
Left to cherish her memory include her husband, Arnold Madsen of Fairmont, Minn.; sons, Ron (Judy) Madsen of Albany, Minn., and Ken (Joyce) Madsen of East Chain, Minn.; grandchildren, Josh (Paige) Terres, Holly (Scott) Groetsch, Jackson Madsen, Beau Madsen, Phoebe Madsen, Vannah Madsen, Quincy Madsen, Gretel Madsen, and Sawyer Madsen; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Ryan, Luke, Ellery, and Isaac; sister, Marilyn Powers of Fairmont, Minn.; brother, Tom Moore of Wis.; sister-in-law, Carol (Kermit) Heide of St. James, Minn.; and other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, Virgil and Madge Moore, Donna was preceded in death by her son, Duane Madsen; sister, Marge (Marion) Tish; brothers, Bob Moore, and Bill Moore; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Moore; brothers-in-law, Roy Powers, Maynard (Dorene) Madsen, LaVern (Arlene) Schulz, and Harvey (Nancy) Madsen.
