Eleanor M. Skaggs

FAIRMONT — Services for Eleanor M. Skaggs, 82, of Fairmont, Minn., will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Minn. A private family burial will be held at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Eleanor passed away Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Eleanor Marilyn (Hansen) Skaggs was born April 18, 1942, in Mountain Lake, Minn., the daughter of Henry J. and Myrtle V. (Thompson) Hansen. As a young girl, Eleanor moved with her family to Jackson where she received her education and graduated from Jackson High School.
On March 24, 1963, Eleanor was united in marriage to Raymond Skaggs at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Minn. The couple was blessed with two daughters, Linda and Jodie.
Eleanor worked at Stokley’s and Pictsweet and later for K-Mart in Fairmont until her retirement.
Eleanor enjoyed a quiet life filled with the beauty of her flower garden that she so tenderly cared for. She also found great joy in growing her vegetable garden and sharing the fruits of her labor with those she cared about. Eleanor looked forward to warm summer days and could often be found out on a walk. Fridays were special for Eleanor as each Friday included visits from her daughter and grandchildren. Eleanor was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont and a member of the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Auxiliary.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Linda (Darren Minion) Hollom of Fairmont, Minn.; grandchildren, Melissa (Louis Jones) Hollom of Sherburn, Minn., Megan (Justin) Humason of Amboy, Minn., Ronnie (Sheila) Torgerson of Fairmont, Minn., and Mike Torgerson of Fairmont, Minn.; great-grandchildren, Rori Jean Jones, McKenzie Torgerson, Emma Ringness, and Logan Torgerson; as well as many other extended family and friends.
