BRICELYN — Arlene Ann Newman, 94, of Bricelyn, Minn. passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth, Minn. A visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12 at Nasinec Funeral Home and will resume one hour prior to the service (10 to 11 a.m.). A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 13 at Nasinec Funeral Home in Wells with Pastor Peg Marose officiating. Burial will be held at Ridge Lawn Cemetery North of Truman, Minn. Arlene was born on July 30, 1930 to Luther H. and Anna (Groth) Sheppard on a farm in Martin County, rural Trimont, Minnesota. She attended Country School District #3 in Waverly, Township and was a 1948 graduate of Triumph-Monterey High School. She worked at Truman Farmer’s Elevator as a bookkeeper where she met Gerald “Gary” Newman.
On Feb. 18, 1951, she was united in marriage to Gerald D. Newman at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont, Minnesota. To this union four children were born: Larry, Rodney, Debra, and Sharon.
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Glen Sheppard in infancy & Harold (Sylvia) Sheppard; sister Marilyn Sheppard in infancy; brother and sister-in-law Roy and Evelyn Newman.
Arlene is survived by her loving husband of 73 years Gerald of Bricelyn and four children: Larry Newman of Bricelyn, Minn., Rodney (Verona) Newman of Truman, Minn., Debra Newman of Chandler, Ariz., and Sharon Newman of Chandler, Ariz.; five grandchildren: Nathan (Molly) Newman, Matthew (Stephanie) Newman, Amanda (Andy) Ries, Cassandra (Taylor) Newman-Delong, and Gabriela Newman; Thirteen great-grandchildren: Ruby, Henry, Cale, Sam, Will, Creed, Pearl, Ezra; Luke, Jacob, David; Amelia and Avery Ries; two sisters: Joyce Swanson of Fairmont, Minn. and Diane (Tom) Lentz of Chanhassen, Minn.; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
