Betty Lium
FAIRMONT — Private family services for Betty A. Lium, 88, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, Minn., with burial held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn. Betty passed away Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, at Goldfinch Memory Care in Fairmont, Minn. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
Betty Agnes (Hill) Lium was born on June 26, 1936, in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Julius P. and Alice A. (Helmke) Hill. As a young girl, Betty moved with her family to Swea City, Iowa, where she attended High School. Following her graduation, Betty went on to further her education and became a registered nurse at Iowa Lakes Community College.
Betty was united in marriage to Marlin Vincent Lium on Nov. 10, 1956, in Swea City, Iowa. Betty worked for many years as a nurse in Fairmont before retiring in July of 2003.
Betty is survived by her children, Brian (DeAnn) Lium, Laurie Thilges (Paul Wagner), Deb (John) Graham, Eric Lium, and Jennifer (Jeff) Freidel; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as many other extended family and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Alice Hill; husband, Marlin V. Lium; two daughters, Julianne and Jackie; and other family members.
