Andy Bromeland
BLUE EARTH — Andy Bromeland was born on April 22, 1948, in Blue Earth, Minn, to Don and Thelma Bromeland. He died Sept. 21, 2024, at Salem Health.
Andy grew up on his father’s farm, near Frost, Minnesota. He attended Frost Schools, graduating in 1966. A class of 23, that included three of his cousins. He graduated from Mankato State University in 1966. Moving to Oregon that summer. He worked at Albany General Hospital, as the Secretary of State, Audits Division. He retired after 31 years. He was a Certified Public Account.
Andy was active in the Democratic part in both Marion County and the State Party for 52 years. He believed in grass roots politics. In his retirement years he chaired the Marion County Demo forum and developed the Neighbor-to-Neighbor Program. He served on two Citizen Committees for the City of Salem and Chaired the Salem/Keizer School District’s Community Relations Committee. He was a member of First United Methodist Church Salem.
He married his wife LeAnn in 1979, raising their two children in Salem. Andy was an avid reader, enjoyed hiking, camping on the Metolious River and the Oregon Coast, traveling, working in his yard and garden and a loyal Duck Fan. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Andy is survived by his wife LeAnn, son Brandon, daughter Holly, daughter-in-law Jill, grandsons Caleb, Chase and Lowell, and granddaughter Lucy. Siblings Duane, Virginia, Kristen, Ken, and his much-loved dog Gus.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the First Methodist Church Salem. Donations may be made to the OSHU Melanoma Research Program: OHSU Foundation, P.O. Box 29017, Portland, OR 97296. Include a note that fit is in Memory of Andy, or the Music Program at First Methodist Church.
