Beth P. Engelbarts

LEDYARD — A memorial service for Beth P. Engelbarts, 92, of Ledyard, Iowa, will be held 10:30 am Saturday, Oct. 5, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lakota, Iowa. Visitation will be held at the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in Highland Home Cemetery, Ledyard, Iowa.

Beth Pauline Lund was born July 7, 1932, in Pequot Lakes, Minn., the daughter of Anton and Herminna (Kramp) Lund. She was baptized on Oct. 30, 1932, and confirmed on Sept. 22, 1946. She attended school through the 11th grade. Beth was married to Floyd Potter on March 12, 1949. To this union they had six children. They were married for 16 years until his death on May 2, 1965. On June 6, 1971, Beth married Christ Engelbarts, they were married for 46 years until his death on Nov. 22, 2017. In addition to being a farmers wife, she was the owner of Ledyard Video which provided the residents of Ledyard a place to eat, visit with friends and neighbors, and VHS movie rentals. She was known for her potato salad and making pies. She made fresh, homemade pies every day.

Christ and Beth enjoyed traveling. They drove Winnebago motor homes all across the county. If she could live her life over again, she said she would get more education. Beth always felt that her greatest accomplishments were her children.

Beth died Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, surrounded by her family at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont, Minn.. She was 92.

She is survived by four children, Dwight (Shawn) Potter of Friendswood, Texas, William Troy (Michele) Potter of N. Grosvenordale, Conn., Anthony (Tracey) Potter of Winnebago, Minn. and LuAnna (John) Fogarty of East Bethel, Minn.; daughters-in-law, Starla Potter (wife of Robin) of Overland Park, Kans., Shelly Potter (wife of Mark) of Swea City, Iowa; five stepchildren, Jim (Denyse) Engelbarts of San Pablo, Calif., Karma Engelbarts of Des Moines, Iowa, Karen Evans of Des Moines, Iowa, Gary (Monica) Potter (son of Floyd) of Calif. and Janet Withers (daughter of Floyd) of Norfolk, Va.; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her husbands, Floyd Potter and Christ Engelbarts; parents, Herminna and Anton Lund; sons, Dr. Robin Potter and Mark Potter; eight siblings and spouses: four sisters, Lois (Harold) Pinsch, Marie (Ralph) Gish, Mavis (Gene) Renner, Violet (Wilber) Chumley; and four brothers: Kay Lund, Farley (Doris) Lund, David Lund and Philip Lund.
