Gerald ‘Jerry’ Milow

FAIRMONT — A funeral service for Gerald “Jerry” Milow, 84, of Fairmont, Minn., formerly of Wilbert, Minn., will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert, Minn. Burial, with military graveside honors by Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and the Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222, will follow the service in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Jerry passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, at Goldfinch Memory Care in Fairmont, following a decade long battle with dementia. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Gerald “Jerry” Milow was born Jan. 5, 1940, to Rudy and Malinda Milow on the family farm just west of the Wilbert Church. Jerry was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert. He was baptized, attended school, was confirmed and will be laid to rest in his church home.

Jerry attended and graduated from Ceylon High School in 1958. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Army. He farmed with his father for many years before going out on his own. Farming was a life he loved.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary Milow of Fairmont, Minn.; son, Chad Milow and his wife, Betsy of Greendale, Wis.; daughter, Lisa Duffy of Milford, Iowa; and son, Joshua Milow and wife, Alicia of Madison Lake, Minn. Jerry is also survived by 10 grandchildren that brought such joy to his life, Mikhala (Nick) Bartlett, Taylor (Logan) Milow, Cami Milow and Kaya Milow all of Wisconsin; Lexi Duffy, Lauren Duffy and Lacey Duffy all from Iowa; Jaxon Milow, Hunter Milow and Laney Milow of Madison Lake, Minn.; great-grandchildren, River Bartlett and Walker Bartlett of Wisconsin. Jerry will be remembered by his sister, Elaine Krueger of Fairmont, Minn.; in-laws, Barbara Milow, Bob Grefe, Betty (Larry) Traughber, Laura (Eldon) Potthoff and Barb Grefe; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Malinda Milow; brothers, Roland Milow and Wally Milow; sisters, Delores Draper and Darlene Buchan; brothers-in-law, Charles Draper, Herbert Krueger and Randy Buchan; sister-in-law, Ruth Milow; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Erhardt and Bonnie Grefe.

Jerry is also survived by his special family of staff at Goldfinch Memory Care. They were Jerry’s angels. We will forever be grateful to them for their loving care.
