Harold Craig
ARMSTRONG — Harold Craig, age 82, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024, at his home in Armstrong, Iowa, surrounded by family. A funeral service was held Aug. 19, 2024, at Global Methodist Church in Armstrong, officiated by Pastor Lyndon Roesler. He was laid to rest at Armstrong Grove Cemetery, rural Armstrong, Iowa.
Harold Craig was born Aug. 25, 1941, on the family farm in rural Dolliver, Iowa, to Frank and Dorothy (Sabin) Craig. He received his education and graduated from Dolliver High School in 1960.
He then went to work for Art’s Way Manufacturing. Throughout the years he owned C&S Clothing, worked at Obbink Chevrolet and the Armstrong Ag Center. He owned and operated Countryside Golf Course in Armstrong and sold that in 1992. He then continued to work as a “Grass Artist” for Rose Lake and Interlaken Golf Courses, as well as many other various jobs.
On June 11, 1976 he was united in marriage to Gayle Rydberg in Armstrong. The couple made their home in Armstrong. The couple enjoyed winters in Texas and Arizona. He was a member of Global Methodist Church in Armstrong. Harold loved the outdoors; golfing, fishing and hunting, enjoying it with his sons, grandkids and great-grandkids. In between he would have to turn off at every garage sale sign to find the best deal especially on golf putters, clubs or something no one knew what it was. He was a “collector and organizer.”
Left to cherish Harold’s memory are his wife, Gayle of Armstrong; sons, Rick Craig of Hackensack, Minn. and Troy Craig of Big Lake, Alaska; five grandchildren: Amy (Ryan) English, Ryan (Stephanie) Craig, Beau (Hanna) Craig, Zachary Grace and Hunter Craig; five great-grandchildren, Lainey and Nolan English, and Zoey, Blake and Hank Craig; and brother-
in-law, Tom Trenary.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna Trenary; and brother, Gale (Eyvona) Craig. www.henryolsonfuneral.com
