A celebration of life service for Duane will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center, 111 Apple St. East in Trimont, Minn. The service will be recorded, and available live as well as after the service at the bottom of Duane’s obituary page on the funeral home’s website. Burial will take place at the Welcome City Cemetery.

Duane was born Aug. 5, 1948, in Fairmont, Minn., to Arnold and Irene (Scheff) Daleske. He attended Welcome School, where he graduated salutatorian for the class of 1966. He attended the U of M and Jackson Vocational School before taking over the Daleske family farm, becoming the 4thgeneration farmer of this land.

Duane was a proud father and his children adored him. He loved spending time with his close-knit family, while sharing the joys of farm-living and cultivating a sense of wonder in nature with them all. Every child visiting the farm knew the excitement of riding for an hour or two in the field, high up in one of his tractors, hands on the wheel, the feeling of a hard day’s work underway. He enjoyed

traveling, camping, appreciating nature, and was an explorer-at-heart (with walking stick in hand).

Duane would be happiest hiking in the woods with his children, then in later years, his grandchildren in tow. He had a beautiful singing voice and shared his love of music by singing hymns and carols, harmonizing effortlessly. He encouraged his grandchildren in music and enjoyed nothing more than to sit and listen to them play, more often than not with tears running down his face. He was a “man of the Earth,” and it was an honor for him to work the land and produce life from it. He never ceased to appreciate the miracle of it.

Duane is survived by his family who he dearly loved, including daughters, Heather (Dirk) Kvale of Hutchinson, Minn., Emily (Brian) Yamamoto of San Jose, Calif., Melanie Daleske of Atlanta, Ga.; and son, Duane Thomas (Pam) Mizner of Aitkin, Minn.; four grandchildren, Benjamin (Cassandra) Kvale, Samuel Kvale, Sophie Kvale and Adeline Kvale; one great-grandchild; siblings, Judy (Dick) Anderson, Shirley (Merle) Burmeister; and cherished nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Daleske; parents, Arnold and Irene Daleske; and an infant granddaughter.
