BLUE EARTH — Donald Haase, age 79, passed away Monday, July 1, 2024, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth, Minn. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2024, at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth. A celebration of life for Donald will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Donald Elbert Haase was born Oct. 2, 1944, in Blue Earth, Minn., to Elbert and Lydia (Nase) Haase. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church where he remained a lifelong member. Donald grew up on the family farm and attended Blue Earth High School where he was actively involved in FFA. He graduated in 1962 and continued farming east of Blue Earth. Donald married LeOna (Foster) on April 1, 1967. They welcomed daughter Lynn Diane in 1968 and son Mark Donald in 1971.
Donald was a social, active man, involved in many organizations including Immanuel Lutheran Church, Faribault County Co-op, Faribault County Pork Producers, Faribault County Historical Society and the Blue Earth Lions Club.
Donald was forced to retire from farming after a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis and spent his final years at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center where he was active on the Residents’ Council and took part in many activities. He became an avid reader and continued to enjoy visits with family, friends and staff until his final days.
Donald is survived by his wife, LeOna; daughter, Lynn (Steve) Weinschenk of Rochester, Minn.; son, Mark (Megan) of Blue Earth; brothers, Paul (Virginia) and Kenneth (Cathy) both of Blue Earth; five grandsons, Derek (Sylwia) Weinschenk, Kyle Weinschenk, Aidan Haase, Collin Weinschenk and Gibson Haase; two step-granddaughters, Bailey Hanson and McKinley Hanson; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, and four sisters, Marion Tesch, Helen Meyers-Tesch, Karen Loftis and Lorna Braun.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Don’s memory may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Facility or St. Luke’s Auxiliary.
