FAIRMONT -- A time for remembering and celebrating the life of Kenneth "Ken" K. Baker, 67, of Fairmont, Minn., will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. A private family burial will be held at a later date in Center Creek Cemetery near Granada, Minn.
Ken passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, St. Mary's Campus in Rochester, Minn. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Kenneth Kim Baker was born July 8, 1956, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of James F. and Irene E. (Melby) Baker. He grew up on the farm near Granada, Minn. and attended school in Granada, Minn., graduating from Granada High School.
Ken's passion for agriculture led him on his career path following his graduation as he began working for area grain elevators. He worked in Delavan, Minn., Granada, and most recently at WFS in Truman, Minn., before his health forced him into early retirement. He truly enjoyed visiting area farmers, many of whom he considered friends.
On May 27, 2003, Ken was united in marriage to Mari Lee Hurley in Brandon, S.D., and the couple made their home on the family farm near Granada, Minn.
Ken was a typical Minnesota outdoorsman. He looked forward to the change of seasons and the opportunity to hunt and fish. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the Minnesota Vikings and Twins teams. On Sunday, you could often find him in front of the T.V. rooting for his favorite NASCAR driver.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Brandon Baker and wife, Amber of Rochester, Minn., Jamie Kielas and her husband, Nick of St. James, Minn., David Cates of Hawaii and Lisa Cocchia of Arizona; grandchildren, Lily, Addison, Barret, Bennett and Callum; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Irene E. Baker; wife, Mari Baker; siblings, Marvel Eickoff, Jerry Baker, Betty Lehman, Dave Baker and James A. Baker; as well as other family members. www.lakeviewfuneralhome.net
