Wanda passed away Friday, May 24, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Wanda was born March 31, 1933, the daughter of Irving and Claudine Myhre. She grew up on the family farm near Montevideo, Minn., alongside her four older brothers.

After college she worked as a telephone operator. She married Leslie Erickson in 1953, and they made their home in Fairmont, Minn. with their 3 children, Scott, Lori, and Lisa. They later divorced.

Wanda worked many years as an Avon “lady” and later became a secretary for Ed Axel State Farm Insurance Company.

In May of 1975 she married Willis Freitag, who has lovingly been by her side for 49 years sharing life’s journey. Together they owned and operated Freitag Floors, a successful carpet store, until retiring in 1995.

Wanda and Willie enjoyed many years of camping where they made many friendships. Wanda enjoyed fishing, hosting holiday meals for family, hardanger needlework, painting, puzzles and games. Her grandchildren would say she was the best with many fun and loving memories. She passionately loved cats. Over the years Tigger, CC, Sam, Heidi, and Simon brought much joy into her world.

Preceding Wanda in death were her parents; and brothers, Laverne, Donald, Wallace and Harlan.

Wanda is survived by her loving husband, Willis; children, Scott Erickson (Peggy), Lori Ziemann, Lisa Meek (Jeff), Randy Freitag (Gwen), Debra Wiggins, Rick Freitag; grandchildren, Megan (Joedy), Jeff (Ashley), Todd (Kayla), Connie, Katie (Joe), Courtney (Bryan), Henry, Harrison and Mackey; and six great-grandchildren.
