Sue Christianson was born July 23, 1955, in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of Laurence and Marie (Scheff) Madsen. She grew up in Fairmont and attended school and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1973. For a career, Sue worked as a machine operator for 3M. In her early years of her career, she worked at the Fairmont 3M plant before being transferred to the Brookings plant. Sue met the love of her life soon after. She married Keith Christianson on July 16, 1986, in Brookings, S.D. Sue and Keith welcomed their son Jonathan on Oct. 23, 1987. Tragically he was diagnosed with cancer and passed away Jan. 2, 2003.

In Sue and Keith’s early years, they enjoyed riding motorcycle. They had a lot of fun traveling, Sue especially enjoyed travelling the country, watching Nascar, going to a number of race tracks across the states. She was an avid sports fan, a big Michigan Wolverines and Oakland Raiders fan. Sue was a member at First Lutheran Church in Volga, S.D. and was a member of the V.F.W. in Fairmont, Minn. She was a straight forward and to the point gal, yet, she enjoyed the little things in life. Sue retired from 3M in 2007.

Sue is survived by her husband of 37 years, Keith Christianson of Volga, S.D.; brother, Daniel (Cherie) Madsen of Fairmont, Minn.; brothers-in-law, Bob (Denise) Christianson and Paul Skarnagel; sisters-in-law, Sharan (Ron) Egeberg, Sandra (Jim) Beck and Lori (Greg) Nelson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Laurence and Marie (Scheff) Madsen; son, Jonathan Christianson; parents-in-law, Ken Christianson, Lola and Don Stampe; and sister-in-law, Linda Skarnagel.
