Margaret ‘Peggy’ Nelson
GRANADA — Margaret “Peggy” Louise Nelson, 81, of Granada, Minn., died Friday, May 10, 2024, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held 2-5 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at the Granada Fire Hall, 108 S. Main St. in Granada. Interment will be held at a later date at Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato, Minn.
Peggy was born April 22, 1943, in Fairmont, Minn., to Edgar and Margaret (Cornell) Custard. After graduating from high school, Peggy joined the U.S. Navy. She worked as a chemical dependency counselor for the State Hospital system. On April 24, 1990, Peggy was united in marriage to Richard Neale Nelson in Madison Lake, Minn. In her free time, she loved to go fishing, dancing and singing karaoke. She also enjoyed her animals and to garden at the farm. Most of all she loved her grandkids.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Nelson of Granada; son, Wiley (Flora) Early of Owensboro, Ky. and Matt (Roxy) Robinson of Buffalo Center, Iowa; daughters, Tammy Koestler of New Ulm, Minn., Dana (Charles) Martin of Tipton, Iowa and Nicole (Michael) Schroeder of Independence, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Dwayne (Karen) Custard of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; sister, Gayla (Jim) Miller; many nieces and nephews.
