Joyce Elaine Moeller was born in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of Floyd and Sylvia (Dorthy) Poulson. As the youngest of six children, and the only daughter, she was well loved. The family resided on a farm northwest of Granada, Minn. and Joyce graduated from Granada High School.
In 1965, Joyce married her high school sweetheart, the love of her life and partner in everything, Roger. They celebrated 58 years of marriage this past December. While Roger was enlisted in the Navy, they lived in New Port, Rhode Island for four years. The couple moved back ‘home’ in 1969 to reside on the Moeller family farm where they built their life, and she made a beautiful home. Together they raised two daughters, Brenda and Cheryl. Joyce had close knit relationships with her girls and could be counted on for a listening ear, a helping hand or a good shopping trip.
As a woman with a strong faith in Jesus Christ, she selflessly gave her time and energy to those around her. Her involvements within various churches, the township, and community groups filled her time. Joyce was well known for her noteworthy mock angel food cakes with almond frosting, making thousands of these over the years for events and friends.
Roger and Joyce proudly welcomed two sons-in-law, Chris and Troy, to their family and had 4 grandchildren. Joyce’s family meant everything to her, especially the loving devotion she gave to Andrea, Adam, Garrett and Tanner. Her grandchildren hold such cherished memories at the farm, crafting cards, cake decorating, her warm hospitality, and vacations to Florida filled with surprises, strawberries, palm trees and flamingos…her favorite things.
For the last 30 years, the couple wintered in Florida where they enjoyed special time together with friends, visiting parks, and eating delicious food. Joyce will be mourned and missed by all who knew her. She loved Jesus, her family, and her friends in such a tender way.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Sylvia Poulson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernest and Hilda Moeller; and four brothers, Don, Duane, George and Leroy Poulson.
She was survived by her husband, Roger Moeller of Fairmont, Minn.; daughter, Brenda Carstensen and husband, Chris of Fairmont, Minn.; daughter, Cheryl Shumski and husband, Troy of Mankato, Minn.; grandchildren, Andrea Carstensen of Sioux Falls, S.D., Adam Carstensen of Fairmont, Garrett Shumski and his finance, Kjerstin Drugan of San Antonio, Texas and Tanner Shumski of Mankato, Minn.; brother, Richard Poulson and his wife, Elaine of New Ulm, Minn.; sister-in-law, Evelyn Poulson of Fairmont, Minn.; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. www.lakeviewfuneralhome.net
