Velma B. Wilson

COEUR d ALENE, Idaho — Velma Burnette Wilson was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the age of 102, in where she had been residing since 2014. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

She was born Feb. 24, 1922, on the family farm in Fraser Township, Martin County, Minn., to Doretta and Julius Behrens. She married John Wilson on Dec. 29, 1940. Velma was a devoted wife and caring mother who valued family dearly. She was very close with her siblings and extended family and enjoyed the frequent family gatherings. Velma and John loved to travel and had many adventures both here and abroad.

She continued to travel on her own, visiting the Holy Land twice. She loved to crochet and was an avid quilter, sharing her Afghans and quilts with numerous friends and family. In addition to being a homemaker she also kept the books for the family business. She never lost her ability to speak German and people were always impressed to hear it. Always a caring person, she also liked to present a feisty side that everyone enjoyed. She lived her faith and is now receiving her reward.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Doretta and Julius; her brothers, Elmer, Sylvan and Omar; and sisters Leona and Ila.

She is survived by her children, Darrel (Sandy) Wilson and Alan (Janette) Wilson; grandchildren, Regan and Darren; and great-grandchildren, Dylan and Mckenna.

Donations can be made in her name to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 211 Budd St., Fairmont, MN, 56031.
