Harla R. Maday

FAIRMONT — A memorial visitation for Harla R. Maday, 83, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 4-6 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2024, at the Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel in Fairmont. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, East Chain.

Harla passed away Wednesday morning, May 1, 2024, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Harla Rae Maday was born June 12, 1940, in Jeffers, Minn., the daughter of Phyllis and Jack Johnson and she graduated from Jeffers High School.

On Jan. 23, 1960, Harla was united in marriage to James Maday at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Chain, Minn. The couple resided on a farm in rural Fairmont before moving into town. This union was blessed with two sons, Mike and Chuck. Harla and Jim shared over 64 years together.

Harla worked for a number of years at J.C. Penney’s in Fairmont along with being a loving mother and wife. She was an active member of the Saint John Vianney Circle, the quilting club, and a past cub scout den mother. During her free time, Harla enjoyed sewing and quilting as well as traveling, going to casinos and playing cards. She most loved the time she was able to spend with her friends and family and the coffee pot was always on.

Left to cherish her memory include her husband, James “Jim” Maday of Fairmont; son, Mike Maday of Fairmont; son, Chuck (Katie) Maday of Edina and their children, Ellery, Monte and Mitchell; granddaughter, Shanna and her mother, Summer; great-grandson, Jaxon; brother, Bill Johnson of Blaine, Minn.; sister, Betty (LeRoy) Collins of Fargo, N.D.; brother-in-law, Dwayne (Bobbi) Maday of Fairmont; sister-in-law, Dorothy Maday; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Along with her mother and stepfather, Phyllis and Jack Johnson, Harla was also preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Don Maday and his wife, Mary Ellen, and LeRoy Maday. www.kramerfuneralhome.com
