Steven L. Schultze

CEYLON — Funeral services for Steven L. Schultze, 65, of Ceylon, Minn., will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert, Minn. Burial will follow the service in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wilbert. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church in Wilbert.

Steven passed away Wednesday evening, April 24, 2024, in Ceylon, Minn. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Steven Lawrence Schultze was born Dec. 11, 1958, to Lawrence and Lola (Diersen) Schultze, in Fairmont, Minn. He was baptized on Dec. 21, 1958, and confirmed on May 12, 1972, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert. He attended parochial school in Wilbert and graduated from Ceylon High School in 1976. After high school, Steve attended Southwest State University in Marshall for agriculture.

On Sept. 8, 1979, Steve was united in marriage to Linda Deling at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert. This marriage was blessed with five children, Lucas, Lacey, Callie, Cammy and Samantha. Steve and Linda made their home in Northrop, Minn. for six years before moving to their acreage in rural Ceylon. Steve spent many years working at Mar Don Builders and Nasby’s before farming, selling Dekalb seed, and assisting friends with carpentry.

Steve was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he served as a trustee, elder, custodian, choir member, school board, and was on the delegate assembly for Martin Luther High School. He was also a member of Son’s of the American Legion, Jaycees and Wilbert Whitetails. Steve enjoyed farming, deer hunting, playing solitaire and cribbage with his grandson Josiah, and making spicy dill pickles. He could always be counted on to lend a helping hand or to strike up a lively conversation.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Linda Schultze; children, Lucas (Sherry) Schultze and their children Olivia, Josiah and Eleanora, Lacey (Fletcher) Williams-Archerd and their children Braylah and Annalyn Williams and Kezzian Archerd, Callie (Nate) Hartmann, Cammy (Nick) Hilgendorf and Samantha Schultze and her doll Emma; mother, Lola Schultze; sisters, Laurie (Mike) Garrels Miller and Sandra (Bart) Johnson; brother, Stan (Pam) Schultze; sisters-in-law, Jerri Drennen, Jackie Keeler, Dawn (John) Weseman; brothers-in-law, David (Dawn) Deling and Kory (Carrie) Deling; many nieces and nephews, other extended family and friends.
