Geneva ‘Tootie’ L. Prescher

BLUE EARTH — Geneva “Tootie” Lenora (Haase) Prescher, age 98, of Blue Earth, Minn., passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024 at United Hospital District in Blue Earth. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. David Schultz officiating. A time for visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth.

Geneva’s parents, Harry and Freda (Dueter) Haase, welcomed her as their first child on July 18, 1925. She was born and grew up in Barber Township, rural Delavan, and attended country school through the 8th grade. She graduated from Delavan High School in 1943. She was baptized, confirmed, and later married at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Emerald Township, Blue Earth. Her high school sweetheart, Roland Prescher, was serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp and was listed as ‘missing in action.’ He returned home safely after parachuting from his downed B-24 plane during WWII. Roland and Geneva were married on May 14, 1944, and enjoyed 72 years of marriage. They raised three children on a farm south of Delavan, later moving to Blue Earth, Minn. Geneva was a talented baker, cook and wonderful homemaker. Family and friends may remember her famous mocha-cakes.

Geneva worked various part-time jobs over the years, including Stokely, Telex, St. Luke’s and Hallmark. Geneva and Roland enjoyed spending some winters in Florida, fishing, and other trips with the 449th Bombardier Reunion Group. Geneva especially enjoyed playing bridge, watching Minnesota Twins baseball and reading. Geneva was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, Leon (Paulette) Prescher, Charles (Corrine) Prescher and Gina Prescher, all of Blue Earth; four grandchildren, Shawn (Heather) Prescher, Devon (Casius) Winslow, Damian (Tina) Prescher and Vanessa (Ryan) Bromeland; 11 great-grandchildren; 10 nephews and nieces.

Preceding her in death is her husband, Roland “Butch”; brother, Howard Haase and his wife, Phyllis Haase; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Arnold and Everald Prescher, Ralph and Delores Prescher; her parents; parents-in-law; nephew, Michael Haase; and an infant brother.
