Timothy Joe Simon was born Sept. 23, 1970, at United Hospital District in Blue Earth, to

Curtis and Sherry (Viland) Simon. Tim grew up and lived his entire life on the family farm in rural Winnebago until his recent, unexpected passing. Tim was baptized at Salem Evangelical Church of Pilot Grove, and was later confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Winnebago. Tim attended Winnebago Elementary, Winnebago High School and Blue Earth-Frost-Winnebago High School where he graduated in 1989. Upon graduation from high school, Tim attended and graduated from Minnesota West Community and Technical College in Pipestone, Minn.

In February of 1991, Tim began working at Crown Fixtures Manufacturing Plant (currently Everidge) of Winnebago. For the next 33+ years Tim packed his lunch pail and headed to work, rarely missing a day except for the annual week-long fishing trip up north, or helping on the family farm. Tim thoroughly enjoyed the day-to-day farm work after getting home from his “other job.” Feeding and caring for livestock, baling hay, and tending to daily chores were the normal and enjoyable tasks for Tim. After supper, Tim could be found enjoying old TV westerns, including Gunsmoke, The Rifleman, or anything John Wayne. Following in the footsteps of his Grandma Laura, Tim also enjoyed the art of cooking and/or baking on a random Sunday morning.

Tim found extreme joy in traveling to Lake Winnibigoshish for an annual fishing trip. Whether it was with his grandparents Orville and Flossie as a kid, or the annual trips as an adult, Tim enjoyed his time in the boat and never missed a trip to Lake Winnie in his 53 years of life. On the rare occasion that Uncle Tim wasn’t working, tending to farm chores, or up north fishing, you could find him attending and supporting his many nieces and nephews at their countless sporting events. Even through all the friendly teasing and razzing they gave him; Uncle Tim was always one of their biggest supporters and was very proud of their many accomplishments.

Tim is survived by his parents, Curtis and Sherry Simon of Winnebago; younger sister, Cindy (Travis) O’Connor of Fairmont, and their daughters, Miranda, Emily, Rachel and Tayla; younger brother, Ted (Misti) Simon of Mapleton, and their sons, Wyatt, Boden, Braxton and Waylon.

A special thank you to the Winnebago Ambulance, Winnebago Fire Department, Winnebago

Police, Faribault County Sheriff’s Office, First Responders and all medical staff. Tim was a good fella, he will be greatly missed.
