Shirley Campe
ALGONA, Iowa — Shirley Campe, age 87, of Algona, passed away Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at First United Methodist Church in Algona. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Shirley’s services will be live streamed at www.lentzfuneralhome.com
Shirley Ann Wolter was born Sept. 27, 1936, on the family farm near Armstrong, Iowa, the daughter of Lyle and Vaunita (Findley) Wolter. In 1955, she graduated from Granada High School in Granada, Minn. On Aug. 24, 1957, Shirley was united in marriage to Lowell Ray Campe at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fairmont, Minn. Shirley worked with Lowell for Farm Service in Cylinder, Iowa. She later worked as a Lunch Lady for the Emmetsburg school system.
Shirley enjoyed camping, her dog and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook for her family.
Left to cherish Shirley’s memory are her children, Kayra (Warren) Waltman of Algona, Karla Anderson of Waukee and Kevin (Cheryl) Campe of Cherokee; daughter-in-law, Carol Campe of Algona; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Roger (Cindy) Wolter of Coon Rapids, Minn.; and sisters, Rosalie (Jack) Newville of Welcome, Minn. and Mary (Gerry) Giorgio of Coon Rapids, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Kenneth Campe; granddaughter, Katie Mae Anderson; son-in-law, Keith Anderson; and a sister, Phyllis Laite. Lentz Funeral Home of Algona is serving the family.
