FAIRMONT — A funeral service for Beverly M. Brinkman, age 86, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont, with interment at Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Beverly passed away Thursday evening, March 14, 2024, at her home in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Beverly Maxine (Stough) Brinkman was born March 1, 1938, in Enterprise Township, Jackson County, Minn. There was a blizzard when she was born and the doctor was brought to the house in a snowplow. Beverly was the daughter of Roydal and Alice (Cain) Stough. She received her elementary education at District 107 Country School and later graduated from Jackson High School in 1956.

On Sept. 23, 1956, Beverly was united in marriage to Merle Brinkman at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn, Minn. The couple resided in Kaiserslautern, Germany while Merle was stationed there in the U.S. Army. They later moved to Welcome, Minn., before moving to Fairmont. The couple adopted a daughter, Amy, on Dec. 14, 1967, and later adopted their son, Marc, on June 12, 1970. Beverly and Merle shared over 65 years together before Merle passed away on June 6, 2022.

Beverly worked as a bookkeeper for Whiteman & Whiteman Abstracting, as a babysitter at her home, as well as working at many local banks including First Farmers & Merchants in Alpha, Minn., Fairmont National Bank and Welcome State Bank. She also volunteered her time teaching Vacation Bible School and Sunday school. Bev was a member of the Anna Circle and LWML at St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was very active in many church activities.

The Lord gave Bev and Merle the gift of caring for others. This was evident with the adoption of Amy and Marc, as well as through Beverly’s care of her parents, in-laws, Aunt Bea and Uncle Gene, and other family members and friends. Bev’s love of baking brought great joy to others. Her banana bars and cream wafers were at the top of everyone’s list. She remembered so many with greeting cards during their ups and downs. Many were lucky to get a $2 bill for their birthday. Bev will be missed by so many.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Amy Brinkman and granddaughter, Sydnea (Thomas) Havnen, all of Fairmont; son, Marc (Dana) Brinkman and granddaughters, Taylor Brinkman (fiancé, Kyle Mancillas) and Makenna Brinkman, and grandson, Graysen Brinkman, all of Lacey, Wash.; brother, Duane (Donna) Brinkman of Hutchinson, Minn.; and nieces, nephew, many family friends and church friends.

Along with her parents, Roydal and Alice Stough, Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Brinkman; sister, Karol “Sis” Bokholt and her husband, Bill; and brother, Garry “Butch” Stough and his wife, Deb; and parents-in-law, Herman and Alma Brinkman.

Memorials are preferred to St. Paul Lutheran Church or School. www.lakeviewfuneralhome.net
