Kathryn A. Detert

CEYLON — A funeral service for Kathryn A. Detert, 96, of Ceylon, Minn., will be held 2 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2024, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon. Burial will be at the Welcome City Cemetery in Welcome, Minn.

Kathryn was called to her eternal rest Tuesday morning, March 12, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont, Minn. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. tonight, March 14, 2024, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Kathryn Arrlette Kramer was born April 30, 1927, to Carl and Viola (Stadt) Kramer in Ceylon,

Minn. She was baptized, confirmed and married, all at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Kathryn attended school in Welcome and graduated with the class of 1945. She then was employed at the Fairmont Community Hospital. On June 12, 1946, she was united in marriage to Harold Detert at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome, Minn. After their marriage they farmed the Detert homestead in Tenhassen Township until 1978 when they retired and moved into Ceylon. Kathryn was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon and its ladies aid. She greatly enjoyed baking, flowers, playing cards and Ceylon Days.

She is survived by her three daughters, Suzanne Bauer of Austin, Texas, Arrlette Krog of Melrude, Minn. and Marilyn (Neil) Cheever of Armstrong, Iowa; grandchildren, Scott (Sharla) Svoboda, Julie (Michael) Svatek, Jennifer Krog, Jessica (Tjaard) Breeuwer, Jonathan (Olivia) Krog, Tonya Brooks, Cory (Shelly) Cheever and Katelyn (Ethan) Jensen; great-grandchildren, Austin (Angeline) Kelly, Kael Svoboda, Arnold and Charlie Carlson, Sanne and Mara Breeuwer, Rylen Brooks, Hayleigh, Maddison and Peyton Cheever, Zoey, Chloe and baby Jensen due in May; great-great-grandchildren, Savannah and Michael Kelly; nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Viola Kramer; husband, Harold Detert on March 9, 2013; son-in-law, Jon Krog; brother, Richard C. “Dick” Kramer; brothers-in-law, George and Dick Detert; sisters-in-law, Zelda and Evelyn Detert, Betty Kramer and other relatives.
