Velma B. Roalson

FAIRMONT — Velma Berneice Roalson (Westcott), passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center, surrounded by her family. She was 84 years old. A visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial to follow at Lakeside Cemetery. Velma was born Nov. 16, 1939, to Ada and Thomas Westcott. She was one of 10 siblings. She was united in marriage to Ronnie Roalson on Nov. 3, 1956. They were blessed with three children: Linda, Kathy and Chris. They had 58 years together before Ronnie passed away on June 21, 2015. Their son, Chris, passed away on Aug. 30, 2016. Losing her husband and son left a huge void in her life and her heart. She was ready to be reunited with them.

Velma and husband, Ronnie, owned and operated Ron’s Electronics for over 20 years. Velma

later worked at the drive-up at First National Bank. She loved being a bank teller. Velma’s favorite color was pink. Please consider wearing pink if attending the service.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and Granny. Family was very important to her. Velma was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church for over 60 years, serving on many committees. A Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, she had a strong faith.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Linda Yesnes (Daniel) and Kathy Roalson; grandchildren, Chad Christianson (Holly), Clint Christianson (fiance Janine), Christina Christianson, Haley Roalson (fiance Matt), Forrest Yesnes, (boyfriend Ari) and Casey Mathews(Nick); great-grandchildren, Aryana Peters, Fry Christianson, Faye Christianson, Avery Leech,Alayna Leech and Hazel Christianson; sister, Gladys Sinsel; sister-in-law, Mary Westcott;brothers-in-law, Bob Anderson and Gary Kerg; former daughter-in-law, Patti Rachal (Mike); nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie; son, Chris; sisters, Lois Anderson, Doris Briggs,Violet Censky, Mary Kerg and Evelyn Kilmer; brothers, Orville, Lester and Tommy; sisters-in-law, Clarice Roalson and Shirley Lemke; brothers-in-law, Gladwin Briggs, Charlie Censky, Richard Roalson, Daryl Roalson and Tom Sinsel; and former son-in-law, Bill Christianson.
