Leslie ‘Bud’ H. Greeley

FAIRMONT — A private family service for Leslie “Bud” H. Greeley, age 91, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial will be held at Horicon Church of Christ Cemetery, rural Truman, Minn.

Bud passed away Sunday afternoon, Feb. 25, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, Minn. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

Leslie “Bud” Harold Greeley was born Feb. 12, 1933, to Harold and Laura (Marker) Greeley in Antrim Township, Minn. Growing up, Bud attended Winnebago and Huntley Schools.

On Dec. 18, 1953, Bud was united in marriage to Marilyn Spiegler at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fairmont. Bud and Marilyn owned and operated Bud’s Place Café from 1979 to 1981. Bud was also an over the road truck driver and put on many miles over the years and retiring officially when he was 72.

Bud enjoyed tinkering in his garage working on trailers, windmills, his pickup truck, lawn mowers, and building dog houses. He also loved to watch wrestling and westerns, especially, Gun Smoke. Bud’s greatest enjoyment in life was being with his family.

Those left to cherish Bud’s memory include his children, Stephan Greeley, Robert (Mary) Greeley, Deb (Mark) Dontje, Tonja (Ken Miller) Alm, Dan (Gail) Greeley, Amy (Ray) Miller, Shawn (Shawn) Anderson and Michelle (Mike Kump) Jensen; 37 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two sisters, June Mausling and Kathy Amundson; special friend, Marie (Rich) Mausling; nieces, nephews and other extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Laura Greeley; wife, Marilyn Greeley; great-grandson, DeAndre; son-in-law, Raymond Alm; infant brother, Robert Greeley; two sisters, Phyllis Zang-Balkow and Delores Haroldson; two brothers-in-law, Flohrs Mausling and Doug Amundson.
