Leola Agnes Brownlee passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024, in Richardson, Texas. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

She was born Aug. 29, 1923, in Martin County, Minn., to John and Leona (Klindt) Posivio, and graduated from Sherburn High School. She completed nurses training in Chicago and worked as a surgical nurse at the hospital in Fairmont for many years.

She married William “Bill” Schmid on June 24, 1950, which set the stage for two of her sisters to go on to marry two of Bill’s brothers. Bill preceded her in death in 1977. In 1988, she married Eugene Brownlee, who preceded her in death in 2006. Leola lived in Fairmont until 2019, when she moved to Texas to live with her son’s family.

Leola enjoyed the outdoors, going for drives in the country, playing cards and eating hot apple pie with cheese. As the eldest daughter of a large farm family, she became accustomed to hard work and developed a commitment to family that never left her.

She is survived by her son, David Schmid and his wife, Elaine of Richardson, Texas; grandson, Andrew Schmid of Richardson, Texas; sister, Vicki Schmid of Hibbing, Minn.; brother, Paul Posivio and his wife, Barb of Calmar, Iowa; brother-in-law, Donald (Tom) Schaffer of Windom, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
