Vernon D. Rosenberg

FAIRMONT — Private family services for Vernon D. Rosenberg, 89, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont with full military honors by Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36, Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222 and the Welcome American Legion Post 553. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery. A public visitation for family and friends will be held 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont.

Vernon passed away Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, at his home near Fairmont, surrounded by his loving family. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Vernon Dwayne Rosenberg was born March 3, 1934, to Edward and Rosa (Abel) Rosenberg on a farm in Rolling Green Township, rural Welcome, Minn. He graduated from Welcome High School 1952.

Vernon served in the U.S. Army from September 1956 to June 1958 in Korea. Shortly after returning he was united in marriage to Elaine Streit on April 4, 1959. They were blessed with four children, twin sons Dennis and Daniel and daughters Debra and Dawn. Vernon lived in Rolling Green township his entire life and farmed with his two brothers and later with his two sons. His greatest joy was buying, feeding and selling cattle. He also served on the Rolling Green Township Board for 30 years, was a member of St John Vianney Church, and was a member of the Welcome American Legion Post 553 for 65 years.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; sons, Dennis (Lori) of Fairmont, Dan (Kate) of Fairmont, Deb (Steve) Olson of Sherburn, Dawn (Donny) Faber of Sherburn; grandchildren, Ashley (Tyrel), Amanda (Gabriel) Morgan, Jack (Taylor), Brooke, Spencer (Sam), Walker (Krista), Taylor (John), Hunter (Missy), Abby (Geno) Holden, Hayley (AJ); 15 great-grandchildren; in-laws, Janice and Mac Stanton, Marge and Jim Bute, Vicki Streit and Larry Blachowske; lifelong friend and cousin, Ronnie Snyder; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Vernon was preceded in death by parents, Ed and Rosa Rosenberg; brothers, Clarence and Floyd Rosenberg; mother and father-in-law, Otto and Irene Streit; sisters-in-law, LaVonne Rosenberg, Karen Blachowske and Shiela Chaffee; and brother-in-law, Steve Streit.
