Robert “Bob” L. Miles
FAIRMONT — Visitation for Robert “Bob” L. Miles, age 88, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, Minn. Burial will be held at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont. Robert passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at The Beacon in Lake Crystal, Minn. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
Robert “Bob” Lee Miles was born on November 16, 1935, to Harold and Edythe (Rachac) Miles in Faribault, Minn. He attended elementary school in Minneapolis, Minn. and later graduated from Fairmont High School.
Bob was united in marriage to Diane Grabinoski on April 2, 1956, in Mitchell, S.D. The couple resided in Fairmont and were blessed with four children, Lon, Kandi, Todd and Margo. Bob and Diane shared over sixty-four years together. Diane passed away on February 21, 2021.
Bob owned and operated Bob’s Dairy in Fairmont for many years. After his retirement, Bob worked at Fairmont Foods and Hy-Vee.
Bob was a member at Interlaken Golf Club, Rose Lake Golf Club, Yacht Club, and was part of the high school football chain gang. He was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont where he was a head usher and served on many church activities. Bob was a faithful blood donor to the American Red Cross as he gave many pints of blood over his lifetime. He was a member of the Cardinal Booster Club and he and Diane attended Fairmont sports even after their children had graduated. He loved to travel and chaperoned two band trips. Bob was in numerous card clubs and enjoyed woodworking, carving, and painting. He took pride in maintaining a perfect yard and a clean car. Bob will be remembered as a prankster.
Those left to cherish his memory include his four children, Lon (Athena) Miles of East Bethel, Minn., Kandi Menne (Tom Donnelly) of Fairmont, Minn., Todd Miles (Kathy Brix) of Mankato, Minn. and Margo (Darryl) Larsen of Mankato, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Edythe Miles; wife, Diane Miles; brother, Bill Miles; in-laws, Peter and Arlene Grabinoski; brother-in-law, Ronald Grabinoski; sister-in-law, Phyllis Miles; and niece, Robin Miles.
